F.A.Q. 2019
Contact me if you have a question last updated 5/3/2019
Q. What planner do you use?
Still using Happy Planner, I nabbed the unicorn one when they released, I wanted the metal purple rings mostly. I like the lines, but am still playing with the layouts, been really wanting a nice horizontal one so I might combine this one with that, as I love these dreamy inside vibes. Otherwise, I am still in my seasonal one until July.
Q. What kind of pens do you use?
Still, use the heck out of my Happy Ink ones, these guys, not an affiliate link FYI, but I also have recently gotten really into the gel version, surprisingly. They were on clearance one day at a store and here we are, all the colors in my bag always. <this is still pretty true, love the gel pens, I tried the Crayola gel pens, just for giggles, and me’h>
Q. Where did you learn to draw/digital art?
I’ve always been interested in art so I tend to pick up what I need to accomplish whatever theme/idea I have. As far as digital media, same thing. I wanted to create something so I tried it and practice with art programs until I got to where I am now. I have made a few tutorials on how to create printables for yourself.
I personally use Photoshop to make the printables I sell.
Q. Do you have a planning routine?
I still plan on the weekends, though if its been a rough day or week I will start early lol it brings me joy. I know I have too many stickers but I don’t care, it’s fun and I like it so I am okay with this hobby.
I like to plan on Sunday if I can, so I can review the whole week and keep it fresh in my head. I try to keep to a schedule but it doesn’t always work out.
Q. I’m not artistic, how can I incorporate decorative planning?
If you want to get started, I always tell people I meet – all you need is sticker paper. Literally. You can print whatever you want on sticker paper for personal use. Google anything, size the backgrounds, steal the icons, it does not matter if it I for personal use. If you like it to copy and paste it into word and print. It is that easy.
If you want to create something, or to just express yourself, practice. That is the best way to get better at anything.
Q. How do I make stickers
I use the Silhouette to cut my stickers, cause it is awesome, and the sticker paper is from Onlinelabels.com. Still the best pricing I’ve seen. I make mine in Photoshop, based on what I would use, suggestions always welcome, and then just design them, test, cut, print and put online as I go.
Q. Do you still draw/anime style art?
Yes, I don’t often, but I do still post doodles to @NSkalie on Tumblr
Q. Do you still make custom jewelry?
At the moment no, I am focusing on planning. I still have a ton and should really do a fair or two to get it out, but life.
Q. How do you make said custom jewelry?
Again, Photoshop and practice. I get my printed at different places, locally (Denver) there is Foxy Design Lab. He is great. I also get some from Outfab which is a great service. Flat fee and they are sent quickly. You need to make sure the files are done correctly, as they only cut and do not check or flip, etc. It’s on you.
Q. What is your job/Routine?
I currently work as Marketing for a Real Estate Broker in Denver. I love it and will probably stay here as long as I am in Denver and it works out. I get to work on art, plan and organize a team.
I have a pretty varied routine, but I work from 8 – 4:30 PM M – F
This year, 2019, I started pushing myself to take on clients and freelance. So far I am doing well, and I hope to keep growing. It’s scary out there, but if it excites and scares you, you should probably do it.
Q. How can I connect with you online?
You can email me, message me Instagram or Tumblr. It is my goal to be more active in working on side things and also taking on client goals, so I should be around more. Right now I am planning to work every Monday out of a cafe after work, to help focus. I am really down with forming an accountability group online if anyone is interested.
